Jejudo, or Jeju Island, is South Korea’s largest volcanic island. Located 130 kilometers off the Southern Coast of the Korean Peninsula, and the main island of Jeju Province in South Korea, Jeju spans a surface area of 1,849 km². That is 2.6 times the size of Singapore (719 km²), supporting a population of just 620,000 people compared to Singapore’s denser 5,850,000!

Created and shaped by volcanic activity over 2 million years, Jeju has a unique landscape of volcanic topography, centermost of which is the 1,950m tall Mt Hallasan, South Korea’s tallest mountain and a dormant volcano which is ringed by 360 satellite volcanoes. Jeju commands beautiful landscapes of volcanic rock, lush forests and the Cheonjeyeon Waterfall. With 300 over hills and 160 lava tubes (or lava caves), Jeju was triple-crowned by UNESCO as the “World Heritage Site Jeju Island Volcano and Lava Tubes” in June 2007.

A renown tourist destination where the cold chills and warm climates of the four seasons touch, Jeju Island is also known for its vast species of vascular plants, birds, mammals and insects. Cherry blossoms and canola flowers are especially radiant on the island, and these attract tourists in flocks during their respective seasons. Renown also for producing delicious citrus crop, the rich volcanic soils of Jeju Island grow a significant portion of South Korea’s tangerine, Hallabong, and other crops like green tea, apples, mangoes and peanuts.

Native to Jeju is its honey, made by honey bees seeking nectar from over 1,800 wild flowers. And this is where we at Jeju Honey SG derive our honey from – straight from the hives of bees; fresh, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Healthier for the body.

Honeycomb

Since thousands of years ago, honey has been harvested. Over the centuries, it has been used for food, medicine and other utilizations on a global scale. Gathered from the honeycombs of beehives, honey is the loving work of bees processing nectar into the sweet sticky stuff we know and probably, love. Honeycomb honey has a viscous milky texture due to its rich enzymes and nutrients that are in an unprocessed state.

And it is here that Jeju Honey SG derives much of its honey from. Rich with goodness, raw honey is unfiltered and unpasteurized. Unprocessed honey contains antioxidants and nutrients in its original amounts more so than processed honey, which nutrients have been significantly reduced by the process of pasteurizing.

Raw honey, abundant with goodness, contains the natural antioxidant oligosaccharides which gives your body its much needed immune boost, thereby improving your energy. Being a natural source of readily-available carbohydrates, a spoonful of raw Jeju Honey can gift you an instant energy boost. Honey also has antibacterial properties in flavonoids such as caffeic acid and ferulic acid that enable it to serve as a natural food preservative, enabling you a healthier choice of food. Its simple sugars of fructose and glucose make raw honey a great choice of sweetener, giving you a sweet alternative of a natural flavor booster.

Having a cough? Not to worry. Our goodness-filled Jeju Honey can also be used as a natural cough suppressant. Just take a tablespoon or two of it and feel the irritation in your throat slip away
